The Crowsnest Outdoors Society is a group of outdoor enthusiasts in the Crowsnest Pass that organize trips for the community in and around the area. We hike, scramble, backpack, snowshoe and cross-country ski. We love to get people together and go out on the trails and explore. The club currently averages around 50 members and 2 drop-ins per trip.

We offer a variety of trips throughout the entire year, but our peak season is from June to October. We have trips ranging in all difficulty levels from very easy to very difficult. You don’t need to have a particular level of experience to join us! We welcome people who are new to hiking and have trips tailored for that level.

We also have social events throughout the year, such as our annual Christmas party for members and outdoor social get-togethers in the summer.

Members are always responsible for their own safety and we always stress that you attend a trip within your comfort level. Our trip coordinators are volunteers and are not accredited guides. Participants must sign a waiver and assumption of risk agreement at the beginning of every trip.

Crowsnest Outdoors was formed in 2015 by Elliot Bridgewater and Heather Davis as a way to bring the community together to enjoy outdoor human-powered activities such as hiking, scrambling, backpacking, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. Shortly after, Jon Fearns came on board and the adventures began!

Up until winter of 2018, Heather and Jon led all of the trips with Crowsnest Outdoors. Trips were posted on Facebook and spread via word of mouth. They led over 100 trips and have seen participation grow every single year. The current board really appreciates all of the work that Heather and Jon put in to grow Crowsnest Outdoors to what it has become!

In the spring of 2018, we decided to take the next step with the club and Crowsnest Outdoors went from being just a Facebook page to a formal registered non-profit society in Alberta. We accept memberships and donations and have the ability to make our trips and adventures so much better as well as start creating more events in the community that go beyond trips. We have also brought on some new trip coordinators to help plan trips and take people out on adventures!

The society is managed by five non-paid board of directors.
