Landfill Paper Cleanup Fundraiser

Please click here to register/RSVP on Eventbrite.

Come volunteer with the Crowsnest Outdoors Society for a cleanup fundraiser.

About this Event

The Crowsnest Outdoors Society is hosting its very first fundraiser and we are looking for volunteers to join us on Saturday, June 15 from 9:00 am - 12:00 pm at the Crowsnest/Pincher Creek Landfill. The Landfill Association offers local user groups and non-profit organizations the opportunity to volunteer to pick paper around the landfill. In exchange, the association will pay the non-profit $14/hour, up to 3 hours per volunteer. The Crowsnest Outdoors Society will be using the money earned to start purchasing club equipment for the leads/coordinators, such as first aid kits, maps, bear spray, and eventually a SPOT device (e.g. Garmin inReach). The Society also wants to start setting money aside for leadership training activities such as Wilderness First Aid costs.

  • Must bring your own gloves, sun protection, bug spray, and anything else you may wish to have on you while volunteering. The landfill association will provide bags for us. The Crowsnest Outdoors Society will provide water.

  • Children are welcome to come, as long as they are able to help and be outside for 3 hours.

  • COS Membership is not required to volunteer.

  • 8:30 am - Crowsnest Pass residents meet at Gazebo Park in Blairmore (across from Stone's Throw Cafe)

  • 9:00 am - Meet at the landfill association which is located just south west of Cowley on Range Road 15. (Coordinates for Google Maps are in the event address.)

  • 12:00 pm - Volunteering ends

  • 12:30 pm - Oldman Brewery for drinks and appetizers (attendance is optional)

For those who are interested, we will be going to the Oldman Brewery in Lundbreck after volunteering. The Crowsnest Outdoors Society will cover costs for some appetizers for the volunteers. Volunteers are free to purchase more food, if they wish. (If you have growlers, make sure to bring them to be filled up at the brewery!)

We ask that you please formally RSVP to this event.
