Sugarloaf Lookout

Join us for a hike up Sugarloaf Lookout. I'm limiting the hike to 15 people.
This is a 16 km long but non-technical hike with 990m elevation gain up an old road up to a lookout. While similar to going up Crowsnest Ridge It is longer and generally steeper.
The drive to the trailhead is on gravel roads and will take 1 to 1.25 hours, the last 8 km on the road up Dutch Creek are a bit rougher.
We follow the old road all the way to the lookout. There may be ATVs on the first part of the road.
Expect great all round views from the top particularly to Tornado Mountain on the divide to the west.
The lookout is the temporary home of the fire lookout officer. We will not go near the lookout unless we are invited to do so by the lookout person.
The event picture, taken on 14th August 2018, shows a slightly smoky view NW from near the lookout.

Round trip distance 16 km
Elevation gain and loss: 990 metres
